Guide to Signing Up for Microsoft 365

Part I: Sign Up for Office 365

Step 1: Choose Your Plan

1. Visit the Microsoft 365 website @ https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/microsoft-365

2. Select "Compare plans & pricing"

3. Choose the appropriate plan:

   • Office 365 Home

   • Office 365 Personal

   • Microsoft 365 Business Basic/Standard/Premium

Step 2: Create Your Account

1. Click "Buy now" for your selected plan

2. Enter your email address for account communication

3. Select "Create one" if you don't have a Microsoft account

4. Provide personal details:

   • First and last name

   • Phone number

   • Business information (if applicable)

Step 3: Verification

1. Microsoft will send a verification code

2. Choose verification method:

   • Text message

   • Phone call

3. Enter the received verification code

Step 4: Set Up Domain

1. Choose a domain option:

   • Use provided .onmicrosoft.com domain

   • Add your own custom domain

2. Create username and password

3. Select number of user licenses

Step 5: Payment

1. Enter payment information

2. Choose billing frequency

3. Complete purchase

Part II: Configure User Accounts and Licenses

Step 1: Configure User Accounts and Licenses

1. Log in to Microsoft 365 Admin Center @ link

2. Go to Users > Active Users

3. Click "Add a user" and fill in details:

   • First and last name

   • Display name

   • Username (email address)

4. Set password options

5. Assign appropriate licenses

6. Optionally assign admin roles

7. Review and create user

Step 2: Set Up Core Services

1. Configure Exchange Online:

   • Set up mailboxes

   • Create shared mailboxes

   • Configure email settings

2. Set up SharePoint Online:

   • Create sites for collaboration

   • Configure document management

3. Configure Microsoft Teams:

   • Set up teams and channels

Step 3: Implement Security Measures

1. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

2. Set up Conditional Access Policies

3. Configure Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies

Step 4: Install Microsoft 365 Apps

1. Navigate to the Setup tab

2. Select "Install Microsoft 365 apps"

3. Download and run the installer

4. Follow prompts to complete installation

Step 5: Configure Outlook

1. Open Outlook application

2. Enter Microsoft 365 email and password

3. Allow automatic account setup

4. If manual setup needed:

   • Choose "Manual setup"

   • Select "Office 365"

   • Enter account details

   • Complete verification process

Step 6: Train Users (Optional)

1. Provide resources for learning Microsoft 365 tools

2. Consider scheduling training sessions for key features

1. Online Support

   1. Sign in to admin.microsoft.com or https://support.microsoft.com/

   2. Click "Help & support" in bottom right corner

   3. Submit service requests online

   4. Access self-help resources

2. Phone Support Options

   1. Available for different regions

   2. Specific numbers vary by country

   3. Support hours depend on subscription level
